Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief’s (DR) volunteer teams are answering a call to assist in the wake of devastating floods that caused damage in Kentucky and other areas.
Don Williams, state DR director for Oklahoma Baptists, reported DR is currently preparing to deploy in less than a week.
“The storms that brought devastating flooding to Kentucky, began in St. Louis. Missouri Baptists have requested our help. We are in the process of recruiting leaders and building mud-out teams that will begin deployment on August 7 to Missouri, and prayerfully extend through the entire month of August,” he said. “Mud-out is one of the hardest jobs, especially in the summer. But it also can be one of the most rewarding because teams have multiple-days opportunities to share the love of Christ with homeowners.”
Oklahoma Baptist DR teams already have been serving this summer in debris clean-up in storm-affected areas of Oklahoma, such as Poteau. Williams asked for prayer for teams as they step up to serve in flood relief.
“Amid this trial for our neighbors in need, we thank the Lord for an opportunity to serve,” he added.
