OKLAHOMA CITY–After news of devastating wildfires of historic proportions that affected tens of thousands of residents of Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada, Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) director Sam Porter says its operation is actively looking for ways to assist.
“Oklahoma Baptists have a ministry partnership with this part of Canada, and our hearts and prayers go out to the folks affected by these historic fires,” said Porter. “I have been in discussion with key response leaders for days, and I will travel there in the next few days to see how our experienced relief volunteers may be of help.”
Porter, who said Oklahoma Baptist DR volunteers have served in many parts of the world including five of six continents, believes the operations’ various services could be helpful.
“The Lord compels us to serve people in the Name of Jesus, and we will be planning and praying about how we will help,” he said.
