Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (BGCO) Disaster Relief assessors are working today along the tracks of the tornadoes which swept across portions of the state yesterday to see where relief volunteers may provide assistance to those affected by the storms.

BGCO disaster relief director Sam Porter said, β€œI think we may activate some chain saw teams across the areas impacted. We may need to have some debris clearing teams as well. Because of the nature of Oklahomans, owners of many of the homes damaged or destroyed will have much help from friends, relatives and neighbors. However, some may not have the equipment needed to move large debris, and that is where Oklahoma Baptist disaster relief can be of assistance.”

Porter added that one chain saw team already is active in the Boswell area, where 10-12 homes were destroyed or severely damaged.

β€œIn addition, there also may be a need for our tarp teams in Chickasha and Stillwater to spring into action, since they are the closest to the impacted areas,” he concluded.
