ELK CITY, Okla.— On Tuesday evening, Sam Porter, director of Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief (DR), said the operation’s trained volunteers are assessing tornado damage in Elk City and monitoring the storms.

“Our rapid response assessors are in Elk City and nearby storm-affected areas, and we are going to continue to follow the storms,” said Porter.

According to Porter, First Baptist Church of Elk City is opening a shelter for the DR’s feeding teams and offering a comfort station.

“We are ready to assist our neighbors in need in the name of Jesus,” added Porter.
