Saturday, May 23 (ELK CITY)–Oklahoma Southern Baptist disaster relief volunteers are now on standby to help after flash flooding and other weather-related emergency needs, if activated, said Sam Porter, director of disaster relief for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (BGCO).

The BGCO’s trained disaster relief volunteers, who have been continuously serving Oklahoma storm victims every day since the May 6 tornadoes, have flood recovery techniques including “mud out” (removal), said Porter.

In addition, First Baptist Church of Elk City has opened a day shelter at the church (1600 W. Country Club Blvd, Elk City) for anyone in need.
